PROFIL
Michael Sukhman began his career as primarily a commercial litigation and bankruptcy attorney. As a member of bankruptcy teams at two of the nation’s leading firms, he gained a wealth of experience in Ch. 11 reorganizations and Ch. 7 liquidations, having represented debtors-in-possession, trustees, and creditors in a number of major bankruptcies.
Later, as the principal of his own firm, Mr. Sukhman re-focused his practice to concentrate primarily on corporate and transactional matters.
He has advised companies with respect to commercial contracts, mergers & acquisitions, bankruptcy claims and proceedings, private placements, formation of business entities, and a variety of other corporate matters. He has represented companies in financial services, high-tech manufacturing, distribution, retail trade, fashion, and media.
Between 2002 and 2006, in addition to his private practice, Mr. Sukhman also served as the general counsel and principal of a New York-based middle-market M&A advisory boutique.
Michael Sukhman has been practicing commercial and corporate law for over 20 years - first, with two of the nation's leading firms, then in the financial services industry and as a principal in his own practice.
Today, in addition to representing alternative investment funds and investment advisors, his practice is primarily focused on advising companies on corporate transactions, mergers & acquisitions, formation and maintenance of business entities, general corporate counseling and bankruptcy related issues.
In addition, he represents both plaintiffs and defendants in commercial litigation matters and pre-litigation commercial disputes.
